Last week I got a chance to sneak into Sugarica during the peak of their busiest season to see them in action. The team was hard at work decorating graduation cookies, chocolate covered strawberries and cakes just to name a few! It was so fun to observe their precision and dedication to their craft. They are truly artists!
I later got a chance to talk with Dorothy Colaw, Sugarica’s owner and master baker! Having been in business for nearly seven years it’s apparent that Bartlesville has truly embraced them. As a native to Bartlesville herself, Dorothy raised her family here and saw an untapped market for sweet treats and custom cakes.
Bartlesville did not disappoint her! She told me that they average seventy-five custom orders a month. With five employees that is no cake walk! On top of their custom orders they also offer Walk-In Wednesday’s so the costumers can enjoy their individually priced treats without a pre-order.
This week the Chamber ladies dropped by during Walk-In Wednesday for treats for our office and let me tell you, it’s no wonder they go through one hundred pounds of butter a week! A line had formed outside the door by the time we arrived but that didn’t hold us back. Despite the extremely high traffic, their friendly staff got us checked out and on our way in no time.
On Wednesday their treat counter offers tarts, cake by the slice, cookies, brownies, cupcakes and much more but only while supplies last! Although their sea salt caramel, fresh lemon and chocolate chip cookies are a Bartlesville favorite, they like to change things out with seasons and new trends. Recently they celebrated the Royal Wedding by offering the royal couple’s official wedding cake flavor, Lemon Elderflower.
Sugarica is in high demand so if you want a custom order be sure to give them a call! They can be reached at (918) 336-2253 or at their shop location 324 S Johnstone in downtown Bartlesville. They are open Monday 10am-12pm and Tuesday-Friday 10am-3pm.
Be sure to stop by for their Walk-In Wednesday and grab yourself a treat! Thank you for helping us make Bartlesville a place everyone wants to live, work and play!
